Prof. Samii ist ein bedeutender Neurochirurg – für Kopf und Gehirn ebenso wie für die Wirbelsäule. Als international angesehener Facharzt zählt der Vizepräsident des INI auch in Forschung und Lehre zu den weltweit anerkannten Neurochirurgen.

Wir über uns

Das International Neuroscience Institute - Hannover ist ein weltbekanntes neurochirurgisches Institut mit international renommierten Neurochirurgen und einer hochspezialisierten modernen Ausstattung für Diagnostik und Therapie. Das INI-Hannover ist aufgrund seiner Expertise ein Referenzzentrum des Weltverbandes für Neurochirurgie für die Ausbildung von Neurochirurgen aus aller Welt. Die Patienten des INIs kommen aus der Region Hannover, Deutschland und zu 50 % aus dem Ausland. Daher ist das Institut in jeder Hinsicht international ausgerichtet.

Das architektonisch außergewöhnliche Gebäude des INIs in der Form eines stilisierten Gehirns hat für die Unterbringung der Patienten eine Kapazität von 96 normalstationären Betten verteilt auf 4 Stationen. Auf der Intensivstation gibt es 14 Beatmungsplätze. Das Institut verfügt insgesamt über 6 Operationssäle mit modernster Ausstattung für sämtliche neurochirurgische Eingriffe. Hierzu zählen auch 2 Hybrid-Operationssäle mit intraoperativem MRT (Brainsuite®), sowie mit intraoperativem CT und biplaner Angiografie-Anlage. Der OP Bereich verfügt darüber hinaus über die modernsten Operationsmikroskope, Endoskope, Navigationssysteme und Neuro-Monitoring Einheiten.

Der interdisziplinären Philosophie des Instituts folgend, sind sämtliche relevante Fachbereiche neben der Neurochirurgie im Institut verankert, wie z.B. die Neurologie, Anästhesie, Orthopädie, Innere Medizin, Onkologie, HNO, Ophthalmologie und Zahnheilkunde. Das ermöglicht eine Diagnostik und Therapie aus einer Hand zum Wohle des Patienten. Das Institut ist als Zentrum für Schädelbasischirurgie entsprechend der GSB-Richtlinien zertifiziert.

Außerdem bietet das International Neuroscience Institute - Hannover die Möglichkeit einer modernen computer- und robotergestützten Neurorehabilitation in Kombination mit Neuromodulation (TMS und elektrisch).

Das INI ist im Herzen des Medical Parks von Hannover gelegen und hat somit eine direkte klinische, wissenschaftliche und infrastrukturelle Anbindung zu den hier vertretenen Institutionen.

Prof. Dr. med. Amir Samii wurde 1970 in Mainz geboren. 1995 schloss er das Medizinstudium an der Medizinischen Hochschule Hannover erfolgreich ab. Seine neurowissenschaftliche und fachärztliche Ausbildung für Neurochirurgie erhielt er an der Klinik für Neurochirurgie, Charité - Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, dem Brain Research Institute und der Division of Neurosurgery an der University of California Los Angeles und in der Klinik für Neurochirurgie am Nordstadt Krankenhaus - Klinikum Hannover.

Nach Ernennung zum Facharzt für Neurochirurgie nahm er 2003 eine Stelle als Oberarzt im International Neuroscience Institute (INI) -Hannover unter der Leitung von Prof. Madjid Samii an. Im Jahre 2008 wurde er Vizepräsident und Stellvertretender Medizinischer Direktor des INI-Hannover.

Zurzeit ist Prof. Samii außerdem Vizepräsident des International Neuroscience Institute – China in Beijing, Leiter des „Intraoperative Mapping and Visualization of the Human Brain” – Programms des Leibnitz Instituts für Neurobiologie in Magdeburg und Professor der Medizinischen Hochschule Hannover, an der ihm bereits im Alter von 31 Jahren die Venia legendi verliehen und er Privatdozent für experimentelle Neurochirurgie wurde.

Prof. Samii publizierte über 150 wissenschaftliche Arbeiten (peer-reviewed) und zahlreiche Buchbeiträge. Außerdem hat er in bedeutenden wissenschaftlichen Fachzeitschriften der Neurochirurgie eine redaktionelle Position inne. Er ist Fellow des Leibnitz Instituts für Neurobiologie, wurde mit diversen Ehrenmitgliedschaften von internationalen neurochirurgischen Fachgesellschaften ausgezeichnet und ist Ehrenprofessor des renommierten Burdenko Instituts in Moskau. Prof. Samii ist als geladener Gastreferent in wissenschaftlichen Tagungen und als Ausbilder in neurochirurgischen Kursen weltweit tätig. Er hat in den letzten 15 Jahren über 250 Vorträge gehalten und war an angesehenen internationalen Universitäten als „Visiting Professor“ eingeladen. Seit 2013 ist Prof. Samii gewähltes Mitglied des Vorstandes des Weltverbandes der Neurochirurgischen Gesellschaften.

In seinen frühen wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten widmete sich Prof. Samii der experimentellen Untersuchung der Pathophysiologie und des Neurometabolismus des Schädel-Hirn-Traumas. In den letzten 25 Jahren fokussierte er sich zunehmend auf die chirurgische Integration und wissenschaftlichen Evaluierung der bild-gestützten chirurgischen Verfahren und der intraoperativen Visualisierung. In diesem Zusammenhang entwickelte er mit Industriepartnern hochmoderne Konzepte für Hybrid-Operationssäle am INI in Hannover und in China. Mit der Erfahrung von mehreren tausend operativen Eingriffen in den vergangen zweieinhalb Dekaden spezialisierte sich Prof. Samii auf die komplexe Schädelbasischirurgie, neuro-onkologische Operationen und die minimal-invasive und komplexe Wirbelsäulenchirurgie. Außerdem dehnte er seine wissenschaftliche und klinische Expertise auf das Gebiet der Wiederherstellung des Gehörs mittels neurobionischer Implantate aus (Auditorisches Mittelhirnimplantat und Implantat des Hörnervs). Im Rahmen interdisziplinärer und multi-institutioneller Anstrengungen konnten so große Fördergelder über nationale und internationale Drittmittelgeber akquiriert werden.
